Let me first re-iterate that I sincerely hope that Ian is able to reconsider his decision (if decision it is). I love this forum. It is not an off-the-shelf bulletin board and has its own quirks and I would hate to see it go ...
However....
I was a member of another forum which, for completely different reasons was no longer available to us. A brave soul stuck her head above the parapet and volunteered to set up an alternative board, albeit using an off-the-shelf format. The cost of running it comes to £1164.00 a year which is raised by donation. I must add that I have neither the expertise nor time to do likewise, but put it forward as a possibility should Ian remain immovable ....
