One of the benefits of the site is realizing how many shades and nuances there are in our common language. Just as Ed has learned a great deal about English as it is spoken in the U.K. so we have learned a great deal from Ed about his usage. Would be a pity indeed to lose that handshaking through cyberspace. For some reason, I don't perceive that much difference when an Australian posts messages, however. Having lived in Aussie for a year, there seems to be more individual modes of expression than there are in the US of A.
