On top of Scotts Bluff in Nebraska, the official Survey marker was placed in 1925(?) and the top of the marker is now 3 feet above the surrounding area. The top of the bluff has eroded away that much in 80 or so years! I've often wondered if someone had taken a rock out of the cairn on the Old Man and placed a tin box with the Blackett note in it there and covered it back up.
