In the last century, Queen Victoria was famously involved with John Brown, her ghillie (Grownups see the movie "Mrs. Brown" with Judy Dench and a surprisingly good Billy Connolly) who sort of defined the romantic ideal of a Highlander, Britain's own "Noble Savage".
