My AA atlas of the British Isles has the village of Bigland Hall a couple of miles south-west of Newby Bridge, which is at the south end of Windermere.

I don't think the real Bigland Hall is a village, just a big house, outbuildings and private grounds, including a tarn and woods which are also named Bigland. Indeed, if I remember correctly, it came up for sale two or three years ago, and I mentioned it on TarBoard then. You can see it at large scale (1:25000) on OS Get-a-Map or in aerial photograph on Google Maps.
