What kind of ship?

Our sewing machine man has unwittingly, I think, raised an intersting concept. What kind of ship does Tarboard represent? My vote goes to a Baltic Trader [probably called "Wild Cat"], schooner-rigged, of course. Enough room to carry a very varied crew, with a capacious saloon below, ideal for interminable discussions. Stoutly rigged, to withstand fair winds or foul, and lightly-helmed as a result of being well-balanced. Inclined to hold her course, and not be too deflected by the occasional rogue wave against her bow. Her plumbing would, of course, be above reproach, as would her well-moused sisterhooks and shackles.
David.
