It should also be noted that Gnosspelius was a noted experimental aviatior. He narrowly lost the race to be the first person to take off from Windermere (and, I think, water in the UK) in 1913. He was building at the same time as many of the great names of early aviation.
Perhaps AR could have used this as a plot for a book. Imagine Roger in a hydro biplane - on second thoughts - don't!
