I think it would have been surprising if you had found much that was very different. After all, it's the expression of AR lovers and they are a fairly stable bunch on the whole. You'd expect that.
And, even if loosely, it's moderated. That's a powerfully stabilising influence.
Looking at the Usenet groups that I used to take (and still do, to an extent) it's not terribly different. There's quite a bit more rudeness, but that's at least in part because none of 'my' groups are moderated. From time to time there would be outbreaks of pointless and counterproductive rudeness. But then some people enjoy that kind of thing. It's just as well there are places for them to have their fun. But not here, if possible...
