My memories exactly. Even the kitchen tap froze. Ice was everywhere, and I slipped and broke my leg. Because of post-war make-shift surgery, it didn't knit properly and had to be re-set. I was left with a slight limp which wrecked any school athletic ambitions.

I can sense the Revolutionary Junta of Moderators getting restless at this point, so here comes the AR link, and it's a 100 percenter: while I was recuperating with my leg in plaster, I was given The Picts and the Martyrs to read. Thus began an intense love of AR's books that has outlived the limp. The rest you know . . .
