Was looking through my 1927-8 Montgomery Ward catalog and there are six pages of watches. Approximatly one fourth of each page is missing -I bought this catalog in a junk sale in Madrid, New Mexico in 1966 for fifty cents. The first two pages are mostly pocket watches priced between $6.98 and $32.50. The bottom of both these pages features wrist watches priced from $6.48 to $33.50. The next two pages are all pocket watches priced from ninty-two cents to $57.50 (Easy Payment price $60.). There are eight pocket watches priced from ninty-two cents to $3.65. The last two pages are all wrist watches priced from $8.50 to $35.90. When looking at these prices we must remember that an average workingman's wage was about $35. month.

None of these watches are listed as "waterproof' or "watertight". It would seem to me that John would most likely have had a pocket watch; but as we do not really know from text in the Books, it would be a toss up as to which he had. And from the above posts, I would assume that also.

When I was six years old I was given a Mickey Mouse wrist watch which I promptly lost. When it was found, I very seldom wore it. I still have it as well as the dollar pocket watch I received upon graduating from ninth grade.
