I think all the girls are cast extremely well and their acting is also impressive. Roger may be a little too silly, but it's not too far from the character in the first book and some exaggeration is o.k. for a movie. John is somewhat disappointing, he looks smaller and younger than Susan and both Amazons and remains rather pale as a character.
So is Captain Flint; he is a little too small and too silly as well. But then, the "conversion" from irritable "enemy" to ally is maybe the least convincing thing in the whole book (for me), so it would be hard to get that better in the movie.
But neither is bad enough to really spoil the fun. Since a kid I have been extremely sensitive to plot (or any other) chances from book to movie and having come as an adult to S&A I think the film is really well done.
