Peter, thank you very much for posting that link.

It takes us to the time in which the novels are set, in a way that perhaps little else could - the state of the roads (hardly busy, and not yet "tarmac") the horse drawn charabanc, the car crossing the beck on a little bridge and the two women in cloche hats picking up pine cones all seem to step right out of AR's pictures.

A pity the hound trail mentioned in the titles seems to be missing, but quite wonderful anyway.
