Certainly Andy! Why shouldn't it? There is enough fresh precipitation to wash any salty spray from the foliage, and the ground water which it taps into it going to be fresh. It is a common misconception that salt water penetrates into the ground around it. In actual fact, the groundwater migrates in a constant direction from mountains to sea. Surface waters such as lakes and rivers, occur where the topograhic surface is lower than the phreatic, or groundwater surface. I live on a huge sand-dune 500 yards from the sea, and we have a groundwater bore to water the garden. It is good water, quite drinkable. Other people in the district whose houses are only 50 yards from the sea have similar bores.
