Sorry to disappoint the two writers above, but the bulk of subscriptions go on the journals. "Voting membership" costs very little to arrange, and in a sense is an extra, since almost all who attend the AGM pay the fee for the social activities. Proxy voting costs you only the price of a stamp.
Worse, when you get "Mixed Moss" (late this month) you will see I reported to the AGM that we might have to increase subs from 2001. Not something any of us want to do, but inflation continues to push costs up.
One way you can help to delay a subscription increase is by ordering your books through our Sponsors, the Internet Bookshop, rather than going by preference to Amazon, who pay TARS nothing.
