Dear Pam:

I can express the idea in polite English or in Australian.

So if I was saying it quietly to Rob that it was time for a beer, I would say:

Time to send the Sheilas for a natter and a cuppa at the tea place.

If I was saying it in polite English:

Ladies, you might both like to go to the Broadbent Museum and enjoy scones, jam, clotted cream and tea, whilst Rob and I get the boat out of the water. I think it will take us about 2 hours.

So like any translation, the exact translation often makes no sense.

Long live Dame Edna.
