Near the start of Missee Lee it is stated that they did ship a hand when they began voyaging but when they became more experienced they could handle the Wild Cat by themselves (to have called at a hundred ports they must have been voyaging in the Wild Cat for several years). This hand may have been Peter Duck or just a yacht hand. It may even have referred to the voyage in Peter Duck.
At the end of Peter Duck (the book) its fairly clear that Mr. Duck has made his last sea voyage - after all when he signed on it was for one last blue water voyage. I don't think that he had many happy memories of the voyage either since he felt responsible for the S&A's nearly comming to a very nasty end at the hands of Blake Jake and his crew.
Anyway how would Peter Duck have fitted in with the Latin Class?
