Reminds me of Buzz Algren's comment when he first landed on the moon. "Magnificent desolation", he is reported as saying. Neil Armstrong said,
"Cool."

But you have to remember that Buzz Aldrin was a bright graduate of West Point and later MIT, whereas Neil Armstrong was deliberately chosen to be the strong, silent, unexcitable type. NASA's version of John.

All right, John wouldn't have said 'cool' but he might have said 'Gosh' or 'Jolly good'.
