Referring to your last paragraph, Ed, I feel that there seems to be a constant escaltion of drama and pace in books, and colour and noise in the films derived from them. Books seem to be written with films in mind, and who can blame an author for that? As JKR and George Lucas have shown us, absolutely anything can be written into a book and expect it to be filmed, thanks to computer graphics. The poor victim in all this is Credibility, who seems to have been thrown out with the bathwater. Her place has been taken by the twins, Visual and Acoustic Impact. I ( and possibly you too, Ed) look for a good story first, and an attractive film version, if there is one. I find that I don't go to the movies much these days.
David.
