Very many thanks to you Dan, Jon, Robert, Andrew, and of course Rob who wrote to me privately for your suggestions and offers of hospitality and guidance round AR country. They are all really very much appreciated.

This has to be a real flying visit unfortunately as we're fitting in with a narrow-boat hire at Falkirk at one end and a trip through Western Europe at the other, both dates fixed. While in the UK we'll be like snails, carrying our own home with us, as we've arranged a camper-van hire from Chester.

Subject to change, the present itinerary is --

Lakes District

Arrive in Coniston from the south about lunch-time on 19th September, spend that afternoon wandering around there (and I hope getting across to Wild Cat,) then driving to Rio via Hawkshead, Sawrey, and the ferry on the 20th, spending the day on that side and visiting Rob in Kendal, then leaving for Carlisle and the north (via Rydal and Keswick) around lunch-time on the 21st.

I’d love to see places like The Dog’s Home, Octopus Lagoon, and so on, but as I’m not sure where they are I don’t know whether there’s going to be time. But I certainly hope so, and I'm sure Rob's, Dan's, and Robert's advice will be invaluable about this.

Norfolk, etc

Arrive Norwich (or thereabouts -- Horning perhaps) after lunch on 25th September, see a bit of the area on 26th and 27th, working our way south a little and probably staying at Harwich on night of 27th, then leaving on the 28th. (Thanks for your suggestion about Southern Comfort, Jon.)

It looks like Secret Water will be out, except perhaps by road, but perhaps we can at least meet up somewhere in that part of the world, Andrew, to say Hi.

As you can see, it's going to be a real rush, and I think proper AR-based tours will have to wait for another occasion.

I'll update this information as necessary in following weeks, and I'll hope to be in touch with you individually in due course.

And again, very many thanks for all your kind offers of help.

Mike
