Yes, some Aussie aboriginals can be very black. But then so can some Africans -- I'm thinking particularly of Ugandans (two of whom are personal friends) and some Nigerians. No doubt there are others.

Of course, intermingling between 'pure' races has meant that there are very many people calling themselves Aboriginal, for instance, whose skin isn't any darker than mine. And so it goes for African and every other racial group. Somebody once said that as a result of this intermingling one day everyone would be coffee-coloured. It's beginning to sound like the sooner this happens the better....

By the way John, I love the self-description of your skin colour as "pinkish beige" -- very graphic and I'm sure also very accurate.

On the way to coffee-coloured, would you say? :)
