It is only in recent years that ladies were required to have a passport of their own in the UK. Up to then wives could be added to their husband's passport at a considerable cost saving in application fees.
It would have been a major advantage for Evgenia to be added to AR's passport as his wife, especially when she had to exit Russia. Whilst she could have held a post revolutionary Russian passport - there would have been fatal consequences if she had been stopped by white Russians or their sympathisers.
To some extent, the issue of such a passport showed thar AR was viewed favourably by the British authorities in Moscow.
