I finally unearthed my copy and found that the eclipse article is in fact in Rod and Line. I particularly liked the observation about human beings , unlike fish, being aware of the forthcoming eclipse and grabbing with both hands the opportuniy to increase their income by turning fields into car parks. I wonder if they were more successful than the farmers in Devon and Cornwall this year.
I've not read Mainly About Fishing, how does it compare with 'Rod and Line'?
