I particularly like the caption to the fifth picture, where due to a slight slip of the finger he notes that "In spite of its being half-tern holiday week, there were no Swallows, or Amazons!"
To those familiar with The Book of Terns, the notion of half-tern holiday week is irresistible. Suggestions for the illustration are encouraged. Although admittedly tangential to Ransome it is birds, after all.
