"Arthur Ransome, Master Storyteller", by Roger Wardale is now available from Amazon in both the UK and the USA. It is an excellent book, well laid out by Great Northern publishers, and gives a detailed account of how the books came to be written, what was occurring in AR's life at the time, and where he lived. There are pictures and illustrations that are not in his other books, and there is also a chance for UK readers to see some of the wonderful Helene Carter illustrations from the American editions.

He has covered some of the material elsewhere, and it is partly based on "The Best of Childhood", available only to TARS members through Amazon Publishing. But even if you have that book, (and I do), the new book is much easier to read, has new material, and lots of beautiful color pictures and a few drawings by Roger as well.

I highly recommend it, and wanted to let you know that it was available in case you had not heard about it yet.

Claire
