It's good that he's not doing Master And Commander, the Musical!

Too late! They have already bowderlerised it! In the book the fearful enemy frigate is American. At the time yankee frigates were bigger, faster and more heavily armed than the British equivalents. So the story made eminent sense. The film-makers couldn't stomach the denoument so to save US sensibilities they made it French. The French tactics of the time were to avoid confronting the Royal Navy at any cost. The film didn't make sense to me untill I learned the truth.
