I am going to try this again -- something ate most of my last message when I left my keyboard for a few minutes.
Dave Thewlis got in his message about the size of the observers of Peel Island just before I did. When we were last there my daughters were 8, 10, 12 and 14 -- comparable to the Swallows in SA. They certainly found Peel Island big enough -- as did Tina and I as we tried to keep track of them as they explored (and tried to get round it at the waterline). I have been all round Blake Holme (though not on it) and it simply does not have the right atmosphere. We have to remember that AR did not like people trying to pin his geography down precisely, so even if Wild Cat (as I think) were 90% Peel Island, he probably wouldn't have admitted it. In any case, the secret harbour is superb, if not very secret any longer.
A note for non-UK TARS -- not all will be aware that the National Trust (much less exciting than Ian E-N's concept of a National Truss) is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to preserving landscapes and historic houses. In Canada, for instance, National Trust is a financial organisation.
