I remember Bridge Broad well, several lots of friends lived on rented houseboats there in the winter. Ours was on the other side of the road (opposite the laundrette) in Windboats yard. It was a 30 foot ship's life-boat built in New Jersey and fitted out beautifully in solid tropical hardwood. The bulkheads were single inch thick planks about 6 foot high and 4 or 5 wide. Sad to say there was a little touch of rot in every plank.
