It would be very difficult to do the whole series with the same young actors throughout. The Swallows and the Amazons are in 9 books each, spread over about 4 years of story time.
It's been done with the Harry Potter films, with the filming timespan only about 50% longer than the story timespan, and with almost all the same actors including about 10 main young characters, but they had an enormous budget, a 7-year narrative timespan to work with, and only 7 books (8 films) in all.
