First thing when starting up the computer and its internet connection is to check the email, get up to date with the latest offerings of TARBOARD, and be enraptured by the scenic beauty daily presented by Tony Richards on his LAKELANCAM. These three tasks have become personal REQUIREMENTS to get the day started right.

Being an American Ransome fan, I have enjoyed reading his stories about young people who live in a foreign land, who speak a rather strange version of English, whose spelling drove my Spellchecker nuts as I typed in these stories, and who lived in another time, that of the early 1930's. There were concepts there that I called "oddities" that needed some explanation. The Tarboard has been a wealth of education, providing answers and filling in the gaps of my understanding by people offering information based on their own personal points of view as being a closer member of that culture and so being more familiar with its details that were so mysterious to me.

So, for those that over these years, have made contributions to that wealth of knowledge, who read my questions and chose to answer my queries, I offer to ALL you contributors my heartfelt thanks for making the Tarboard the repository of such a wealth of information that it has become. With your assistance, those stories have achieved even greater reality in my mind, making them ever more a part of my continuing childhood even into my senior years.

And to that team of technical persons whose patience, equipment, knowledge, and PATIENCE has kept this Tarboard live and well, and who have felt the need to personally reach into their own pockets to manage the realistic world of financial costs of such a project, to them not only goes my thanks for a job well done, but thanks for setting up the procedure for me to share in the support with a monetary contribution.

So, it is accolades all around, for an excellent website that has brought much joy and delight to so many.

Three million cheers !!

Ed Kiser, Kentucky
