Anne, if you were watching the Today show this week you might have heard Stella McCartney talking in what I think must be pretty good estuary English, one generation away from her father's real Scouse. And,for all I know,she has some posh English public -i.e. private- school education in the middle? I don't mind the demise of the posh at all, but I do mourn the death of the regional British accents. The distinctive West Country accent with its long vowels is really only spoken by the older generation now. Even kids born & bred in Cornwall now speak estuary, even though they are not generally keen on what happens "up country."
