They have no plans to film this summer, or any summer, partly because the locations will be very busy, but mainly because their research tells them that it isn't the best time of year, weather-wise. They hope to get better wind conditions for sailing in either late spring/early summer, or in the early autumn.
As of a couple of days ago, there is still a slim possibility that they will film this autumn. We should know for definite around the end of this month, because they need to allow sufficient time for Pre-Production: finalising the script, selecting locations, shooting schedule, casting etc. Hence next spring is the most likely timescale, which should mean the film is realeased around a year later, in summer 2013. However, none of this is certain until Harbour Pictures and BBC Films announce the start date for principal photography and formally move from development to pre-production.
