I had never heard of ammonium/nitrogen iodide referred to as "touch powder".
When I read that, I was reminded of my time at school when some people (not me) got keen on picric acid- they used to scatter crystals about to kill pigeons, who would peck at them and blow themselves up. I'm not sure if this is the same stuff, although it seems similar.
