Potter Bridge has been rebuilt, so it isn't the nightmare it once was...
Potter Heigham road bridge was rebuilt in 1385, since when it has posed an interesting challenge to navigation and allows exploration of the higher reaches of the Thurne and connected waterways without disruption by the worst type of 'floating caravan' motor cruisers.
It is Potter Heigham railway bridge – which never proved much of a problem – that has been demolished and replaced by a new road bridge.
