AR's "Russian connections" were at the back of my mind.
I have this image of consternation in some Whitehall office in 1937 when it is discovered that Britain's top secret experimental radar system has been alluded to in a children's book. Presumably cooler heads pointed out that Ransome had treated it as something unremarkable that had been there for ever and that this, if anything, would mislead the Germans about its importance.
