Certainly Esperance outside and Gondola inside is the way I see the amalgam.

Not sure why the modern version of Gondola should be lower at the stern. Maybe the whole boat might be lower because of the increased weight of the replacement hull enclosing the same amount of displaced water. Not sure that a replacement steam boiler and cylinders would weigh much more than the original. I do not know what fuel is being burnt now, many steamers now run on wood pellets rather than coal which would affect weight distribution.
Perhaps you should contact the National Trust, who own Gondola, asking about the boat being lower at the stern and finding out about fuel burnt.
Doubtless our fellow Tarboarders can provide their own ideas about weight distribution.

Anyway a trip on the Gondola does enable us to replicate a trip that AR would have experienced. Especially if you avoid looking at the infestation of offshore marinas and any modern housing.
