Clifford Webb died in 1972 and seventy years is the usual period of time after the artist's death for copyright. I suppose it depends on the contract with Ransome and/or Cape as to who actually owns the copyright for the illustrations. It could be Ransome's estate or Cape.
Or is there some other oddity about illustrations that I am unaware of?
