I don't know if Thunder and lightning would count as a piratical phrase (it sounds fiercer in the more usual German) but it introduces what I have long considered the epitome of Nancy.

"Thunder and lightning," said Nancy Blackett, "what a chance we missed. If only we'd known we'd have given you broadside for broadside till one of us sank, even if it had made us late for lunch." (SA Ch 10)

This is such a delightful mixture of fantasy and the mundane.
