There are several people on facebook called Arthur Ransome, I think you're referring to one with the line drawing of him as his profile picture. Someone puts a lot of effort into posting material as if they were AR, on the right date but jumbling up the years. I'd suspect they might be someone who posts on this forum too. Therefore if you chose to be his 'friend' you would receive these posts and could comment on them etc. It's good fun and informative/thought-provoking.
In addition there are two Facebook groups, the main one of these being The Arthur Ransome Group with 350 members, a forum for AR enthusiasts not dissimilar to Tarboard. There is a USA version of this group too. Many of the members of these groups are familiar names!
Lastly there is a Facebook page with 1500 likes to it but this seems to be taken from Wikipedia's AR pages and is very static.
