Well, yes and no. In the 1960s, there was only one former trading wherry left and that was the 'Albion', owned by the Norfolk Wherry Trust. In 1999, she was joined by 'Maud' which had been subject to an 18-year restoration after having been sunk on the edge of Ranworth Broad in the 1960s.

Then there are the two pleasure wherries 'Solace' and 'Hathor'. They have traditional wherry hulls, but are fitted with very comfortable passenger accommodation in the space where the cargo hold would have been.

'Solace' and 'Hathor' would have been around in the 1960s and 1970s. The third pleasure wherry is the teak-built 'Ardea' which was used as a houseboat in Paris at that time. Because of her hull shape, 'Aredea' is considered to be a 'pleasure wherry', as opposed to the counter-sterned 'wherry yachts'. 'Ardea' returned to Norfolk in 2005.

The surviving wherry yachts are 'Olive', 'Norada' and 'White Moth'. All three would have been around in the 1960s and 70s.
