Now that you mention it, the line: "Roger aged seven" was a trigger to me when I was first introduced to these books. My mother found SA in the local library and she was delighted to notice the MAP at the front, so thought that map would help me in understanding where the events took place. But those first three words did hit me, because I was SEVEN at the time, my dad's name was Roger, so it was a familiar name to me. I knew what it was like to be a 7 year old boy, so this led me on into the book to find out more about that 7 year old boy. I had immediately identified with him, as he became my alterego in these stories. But those first three words is what not only dangled the bait, but set the hook as well, and from then on, I was in the adventure. So I am grateful for those first three words, and what course they sent me on towards.
