Just starting now on BBC2, a programme about Donald Campbell, who was killed attempting the world water speed record on Coniston in 1967.

It's called 'Donald Campbell: speed king' and is still on the iPlayer.

There's lots of good archive in it, and at the beginning there's a good chunk about his father Malcolm Campbell, which includes a few fleeting but interesting shots on Coniston in the '30s, although they are fairly Rogerish in that the subject is Campbell's setup there, big boat and slipway in foreground. The few seconds of visible Coniston shoreline are quite Ransomish. There's also a fair bit of present day views of Coniston water. And of course Donald's 1940s speed runs including the famous flip that killed him. It includes Campbell's radioed commentary about how rough the water was; it certainly sounds as though his teeth are rattling. Water as concrete...

There's a lot of Donald Campbell stuff on Youtube, and there might be something in there, but I haven't been though them.
