In terms of being frozen in, I doubt that the houseboat would have suffered much from being frozen in by lake ice. It is not like being frozen in the ice cap floating on the sea. The main damage is caused by ice movement of large thick slabs of ice and the Arctic ice is much thicker. There would be very little movement of ice on the lake.
