Speaking of jousting, jousting at rings is Maryland's official State Sport: http://marylandjousting.com/. "Jousting is a sport synonymous with Maryland history. It has survived in Maryland since the founding of the original colony."
When I grew up in Maryland in the 1950s you could still see jousting tournaments at county fairs, and apparently the sport is still alive.
