I too agree about the paper which I believe makes the 1930s editions heavier than their modern counterparts. We have Wren Howard to thank for that. He gave John Dickinson the specification and the paper was made to order.
I have not looked at a modern hardback, but I believe new blocks were made from the original drawings to replace the worn plates.
