My bet is that she wasn't there. We know from Swallowdale
that Captain Flint and Molly Blackett were raised by
her and much more frightened by her than Nancy and
Peggy are. More to the point, when she WAS there,
Captain Flint wasn't allowed to stay on the houseboat
and had to be at Beckfoot "on parade". So since he
was holed up on the houseboat writing, the chances
are pretty good that the Great Aunt wasn't at Beckfoot
by the time the story started, and there are internal
references in S&A which suggest that he (Captain Flint)
had been "no use that summer" due to writing Mixed Moss.
