I know "sand shoes" are plimsolls, but (in regard to AR drawing them as ankle boots) did the suede leather "desert boots" exist before WWII?
Did they have them in Palestine in WWI??
Or were they an especially WWII phenomenon, in which case not something AR would have seen around in the thirties....
