The shots of the lake at Windermere Station, now longer to be seen masked by development and tree growth.
As for the station itself, it's now a supermarket. So the trains stop just short, at the new Windermere station, but when I was there you could still turn left out of the supermarket/station yard and head down towards Bowness/Rio, and you can still follow Mrs Blackett's halting path in Rattletrap down to the boating piers- and the hotels in Street View are still similar to the ones in the background of the picture of AR sailing in Rio Bay, on p.78 of Christina Hardyment's 'The World of Arthur Ransome'.
But when I was there, we didn't pass Colonel Jolys driving up the other way.
