I found a reference to Genia carrying a large sum of money rather than diamonds. Also spmeone referred to her as Jewish. I am no expert in these matters, but a quick glance through suggested that MI5 were right to be concerned. Did Trotsky ask Genia to seduce Ransome, having seen how profitable for the cause his propaganda could be? It's a thought.
