There's a scene in the Picts and the Martyrs where Nancy has to warn
the postman not to deliver any more mail for the Ds to Beckfoot.
She attracts his attention by throwing a stone past his head.
After protesting that redirecting the mail without proper authorisation
could cost his his job, he adds that she should be more careful with
stones as she could easily have injured him.
She replies that she'd have hit him for certain if she'd been trying.
I think it's the same with the arrow and the Swallows.
