The violence was more of a threat, or potential, to where it MIGHT be
more serious than it actually was - except for the head butt into the
gut - that one really bothered me. I know kids play at violence, with
tussling on the floor, with some fighting over toys, shouting "Mine!
Mine!" as that is part of growing up. The problem I have is in reading
these stories to my grandchildren and explaining how they don't mean
to really HURT each other. Play can get out of hand. I'm sure the
"Columbine Syndrom" is working on me here. Maybe we should all be aware
of "violence for entertainment" that is so common in our culture. I
just don't like for my favorite children stories (Ransome, of course)
to indulge in such questionable activities. Such conflicts borders
on acting like DUFFERS!
